Black-figure pottery painting was especially common between the 7th and 5th centuries BC. Figures and ornaments were painted on the body of the vessel using shapes and colors reminiscent of silhouettes. Delicate contours were incised into the paint before firing, and details could be reinforced and highlighted with opaque colors. The principal centers for this style were Corinth and later Athens. The pottery process follows the technique and style used by the ancients and every object is individually hand thrown terracotta, hand-shaped, and hand-painted in detail in Greece and signed by an artist skilled in the art of ancient Greek pottery making.
